When should I use a 2 MHz rather than a 3 MHz obstetrical probe? The LifeDopTM 3 MHz is an early term and general purpose Doppler probe. It will work very well through most full term pregnancies. The 2 MHz probe was designed to accommodate late term and obese pregnancies since it works best at 10 cm and larger depths. |

Do I need to drain my batteries completely down before I use the recharger? No. The LifeDopTM ‘smart’ recharger was designed to eliminate this chore. Once you plug in your recharger, the LifeDopTM senses battery voltage and determines whether or not the batteries need recharging. If your batteries are not low enough to charge then the cycle is terminated. If they are low and your unit begins a recharge cycle, the LifeDopTM continually monitors voltage and recharge time and terminates the cycle once the batteries reach the optimum level or exceed the maximum time. |

How do I know when I should replace my alkaline batteries?Even though the battery life on your LifeDopTM will exceed 1,250 exams, both display and non-display versions of the LifeDopTM give you plenty of warning that the batteries are running low and should be replaced. On the display version, an LCD graphical battery-shaped icon gives you indication of the battery level. When the battery reaches the point of needing to be changed, the outline of the battery flashes. On the non-display version, there are two levels of low battery indication. When the battery begins to run low it will flash at a slow rate, approximately once per second. When a very low battery level is reached, it will flash at a high rate, approximately twice per second. In either unit type, the battery low indications give enough warning that will easily allow completion of the current exam before the batteries need replacing. |

What do I do if I am getting a diagnostic error code? The LifeDopTM continually performs a series of diagnostic functions while the unit is being used. If a monitored feature is out of specification, the unit will briefly display a diagnostic code before resuming normal operation. Although the user’s manual contains a table of error codes and a trouble shooting section that may be of assistance, please call Summit Doppler Technical Service to determine to nature of the anomaly. We will be very happy to assist you in ensuring that your unit is operating at peak performance levels. |
